Hannah, an orphan in the monastery on the planet St. Erasmus, is a telekinete, someone who can move objects, including space ships, with her mind. Father Mardik tries to shield her from being recruited, but when Captain Bonner's telekinete dies, the Captain comes to St. Erasmus looking for a replacement. Hannah pushes her way ahead of the eager Brother Evremond, winning a place aboard the all-male ship The Blood Money. Now she has to contend with defending her place aboard the ship from the outraged engineer Ramp to the overly-friendly Leslie. She also must contend with the enemy that is fragmenting and destroying mankind. The Sand Princess is a tale of adventure and romance, victory and heartbreak, and is suitable for all ages.

A world of telekinesis and space travel. Kinetes are used to push ships through FTL. Humans are at war and are not doing well. We are better tacticians but suffer lower numbers of ships and losing more battles than we win. Hannah is the main character, an orphan that grew up in a monastery and the book opens with a ship recruiting on Hannah's home world. She is quite the woman, young but very accomplished. There are some hard choices to make and she can make them. This is a story of sacrifice in a way. Really good read. This is the third book I have read by R. Bruce Sundrud. All have been good reads. I enjoyed them all. I do wish his books were a little longer. They run right at 200 pages for each.

The Sand Princess R Bruce Sundrud 9781478204244 Books Reviews
Mr Sundrud manages to capture a young woman's emotional state in a way that is believable. The story is heartbreaking and beautiful. I look forward to more from this talented author.
The story intrigued me from the beginning and I must have read the ending 5-6 times. I am seldom as touched emotionally as I was with this book. I want an impossible sequel, perhaps the author will follow with another telekenete story or better yet a series ;>)
A really good book, though would have liked it to be more fleshed out and more closure in the ending. I've been reading a few of this authors books in the last few days and enjoyed them all so far.
I WAS CAPTIVATED BY THIS BOOK! IT ENDED SAD, BUT THE MORALE BEHIND THE STORY IS MEMORABLE. I WILL BE WATCHING FOR MORE OF THIS AUTHORS BOOKS, AS FOR NOW I HAVE READ ALL OF THEM. I AM HOOKED ON HIS WRITING!
13&11 yr old sons loved it!
One of ther favorite authors!
The Sand Princess was one of the best SiFi books I have read. Just enough gore, intrigue, strong characters, folding thru space, story line and more, makes it a great read. My 13 year old grand daughter read it first and said I had to read it. We both gave it 2 thumbs up! A must read for girls and guys alike!
This book is the 4th Ive read by R. Bruce Sundrud. So far its my favorite. He did a good job of developing an interesting story of military science fiction where movement between stars was done by power of mind control. With this 4th book, he has become one of my favorite authors, and Im looking forward to reading more of his work.
